Welcome to Cedar Lake

We hope you are planning to develop in the Town of Cedar Lake. If so, we would like to make the subdivision process as simple as possible for you.

    Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). This site will grant you access to various flood maps and information regarding the importance of floodplains and floodways in your prospective development.

    Lake County Indiana Geographical Information System. A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system for the input, editing, storage, maintenance, management, retrieval, analysis, and output of geographically referenced information.

    Lake County Assessor’s site. Provides guest access for legal descriptions and tax key numbers for parcels in Lake County, Indiana.

    Lake County Indiana Website. Information concerning many County departments and services and contact information for County officials.


The subdivision process will take several months from the time you begin the process by meeting with the Town Administrator and Town Staff. At this initial meeting, you will be offered a Subdivision Ordinance ($15.00), Developmental Standards Manual ($15.00), Stormwater Management Ordinance ($20.00). also available for purchase are the Zoning Ordinance ($20.00) and the Comprehensive Plan ($55.00). After meeting with the Town Staff and filing the appropriate applications (Preliminary Plat, Rezoning, Site Plan) with the Town, prospective dates will be given for your subdivision presentation to the Plan Commission. Town Engineering and Town Attorney reviews will take place during this time. Once preliminary plat and site plan approvals you may request final plat approval from the Plan Commission. At the time of final plat approval a performance bond may be required to insure the completion of infrastructure and public improvements.
