NOTICE: Dog tags are available at the Town hall for just $10.00 per animal. After March 31, the cost increases to $15.00 each. Please provide proof of your pet's Rabies vaccination to receive your dog tag. Dog tags are required and provide vital information to the police department in the event that your dog is lost. Animals with tags can be quickly reunited with their owners.
NOTICE: Do you have a permit for that? Did you know that you are required to have a permit from the Town if your home or business has an alarm system that summons police or fire personnel? An alarm permit costs $10.00 and is valid for two years. A single page permit application provides valuable information to the police department concerning your alarm company, key holder and responsible person contact information.
When the police or fire departments are summoned to answer an alarm at a premises where no permit has been issued, fines can be substantial and re-issued for each alarm call. An alarm permit can be purchased at the Town Hall Monday-Friday during normal business hours.
NOTICE: May 1st marks the start of our annual weed and rank vegetation enforcement activities. Weeds or rank vegetation that has reached nine (9) inches or more in height is prohibited.
NOTICE: Every year many questions arise concerning the posting of handbills. It is illegal to attach any poster, note, notice or any other object to a public utility pole. If you are planing a garage sale or similar function, please remember that if you place a sign on a utility pole, the sign will be removed and destroyed and you may receive a citation for the violation. Please call the police station if you need additional information or have questions about this Ordinance.

Neighborhood Watch: Thank You to all of our citizens who attended the first Neighborhood Watch organizational meeting. With over 50 people in attendance, the program is off to a great start. As you talk with your neighbors about participating in the program, remember that your police department is here to help. We will continue to spread the work and look foreword to our next quarterly meeting.
October, 2011Did you hear the news? Cedar Lake Police Department has been awarded a COPS (Community Oriented Policing Service) grant by the United States Department of Justice. This highly competative grant will be used to create a new full-time police officer position and pay for the salary and benefits for three years. The grant award totals over $225,000.00 . Cedar Lake was one of just four agencies in the State of Indiana to receive this grant.
