Weed Ordinance Enforcement Begins May 1.

We want to remind all property owners that our Weed Ordinance goes into effect each year on May 1st.  This ordinance is of particular importance to all of us who own property within the Town of Cedar Lake. The Ordinance specifically says that after May 1, any property that has weeds or rank vegitation of a height of 9" or more is an Environmental Public Nuisance.  Public notice has been published in local newspapers letting everyone know that this Ordinance is in effect.  Violators will receive a citation and if the property is not brought infto compliance within five days of the issuance of the citation, the Town will cause the weeds to be removed and the property owner will e invoiced for the work performed.  If the invoice is not paid within thirty days, the Town shall place a lean on the property.  Please do your part and help us keep our Town clean and nuisance free.
