Volunteers in Police ServiceVolunteers can be an important part of any organization and are proven to be a valuable asset to law enforcement agencies. Our volunteer program pre-dates the police department itself and has been known through the years by other names such as the Cedar Lake Civil Defense, the Cedar Lake Emergency Management Agency and now Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS). Our volunteers help to increase police responsiveness, service delivery, information input and they provide new program opportunities. Volunteers bring new skills and expertise to the job and prompt new enthusiasm. The Cedar Lake Police Department continually seeks qualified volunteers that can help create efficiencies for the Department and improve services to the community.
